Dearest Friends and Family,
I wanted to share with you all that I have officially accepted an Assistant Professorship in the Educational Studies Department at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania for the fall of 2014.
My family and I are humbled by the wonderful opportunity that I have been afforded to continue doing educator-scholar-activist work in such a supportive and critical environment.
Certainly who I am and why I do things the way I do them have everything to do with my family: Jen, Teo, my parents, my siblings, Jen’s parents and siblings, and beyond. I thank them for their unending love and support!
I also want to thank everyone out there who I have stood with personally, academically, and politically — my justice family. Specific shout outs to NYCoRE, the Urban Education Ph.D. program, and the Education in our Barrios Project research team. Working and living side by side with such an array of wise and engaged human beings has not only enriched my life, but also sharpened my understanding of the world and nourished my desire to contribute to the creation of a more equitable and loving world.
It has been an honor and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you in the months and years to come.
