Heat & hot water season began on October 1st, and will last through the end of May. By law in New York City, your house must be at least 68 degrees during the day if it is below 55 degrees outside, and at least 55 degrees at night if it is below 40 degrees outside.

If you live in New York City and are having trouble with your heat or water, you can call 311 seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day for assistance. If you are outside of New York City, call your municipality’s Department of Buildings.
