Its purpose is to promote Marxist education, solidarity with the world-wide struggle for emancipation of the workers and oppressed, and awareness of the connection between these issues and the struggle to defend public education, in accordance with the Trotskyist principles of “The Internationalist.” (See Statement of Purpose for more details.) The organization’s activities will include discussions, forums, film screenings and readings. An area of particular focus will be the theory and practice of Marxist pedagogy and its relationship to the ongoing struggles to defend public education in the United States and across the world. We will seek to understand what the mechanics of such an approach to pedagogy means in terms of its actualization in our studies and teaching across CUNY.
