Details from the PSC (the Professional Staff Congress) on adjunct health care issues:

CUNY has put adjunct health insurance at risk by dramatically increasing its reliance on adjunct labor but refusing to increase the funding for their insurance. 1,700 adjuncts will lose health insurance a year from now if CUNY fails to act. The cost of adjunct health insurance has grown to $14 million. CUNY provides only $2.8 million for this purpose, only 20% of the cost.

Adjuncts now teach more than half the courses at CUNY; they are a core part of the faculty. CUNY has refused the union’s repeated demand to fund adjunct health insurance at a rate that keeps pace with its growing reliance on adjunct labor and the rising cost of health insurance.

Adjuncts at SUNY who meet eligibility requirements similar to those at CUNY receive the same health insurance as full-timers. City employees who work half time or more receive the same health insurance as full-time City workers. Demand equity for CUNY adjuncts. Demand that CUNY fully fund adjunct health insurance.
