My name is Kim Nguyen and I’m a doctoral student at City University of New York in the Critical Social and Personality Psychology program. I graduated from the Human Development and Social Intervention Master’s program at New York University (NYU) and my research interests are in gender studies, child development within the cultural context, social justice, group dynamics, and political war trauma. I’m interested in the different ways that we are dehumanized by social injustices and how this disrupts our ability to connect with one another (and ourselves) and therefore, heal from war trauma. Prior to her work in psychology, Kim was an English teacher in Vietnam and a cook in Spain and Los Angeles. Kim was also the project manager for PACH.org, a think-and-do tank based at NYU.
