Enchanted Entrepreneurs: The Labor of Psychics in New York City

1 Leave a comment on paragraph 1 0 Karen Gregory is a lecturer in sociology at the Center for Worker Education/Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at the City College of New York. Her interests are ethnography, contemporary social theory, and the sociology of labor. She recently defended her dissertation, entitled “Enchanted Entrepreneurs: The Labor of Psychics in New York City”, which explores the intersection of contemporary spirituality, labor, and social media.

2 Leave a comment on paragraph 2 0 In a not so past life, Karen was an Instructional Technology Fellow at the Macaulay Honors College (Hunter College), as well as held a Teaching and Learning Fellowship in the Office of General Education at Queens College. She was also Writing Fellow at LaGuardia Community College. Karen has several years of teaching experience and is also a photographer. She is deeply committed to experimental pedagogies that explore the relationships between teaching, learning, and “making things” in the classroom.
