During the first class we decided the following topics would be interesting to focus on throughout the semester. Each group will be a given a topic for the duration of the semester and will create a research project that could investigate this topic further.

- Prisons: Reform, Recidivism, Mass incarceration, overcrowding
- Economic inequality
- NYPD/Law Enforcement: Hiring process, Racial bias
- Drugs: Abuse, Legalization, Decriminalization
- Immigration/Human trafficking
- Gentrification
- Social/Political Movements
