This Project

CUNY Food Chains is a project that investigates the relationship between CUNY and food systems. Its main goals are to collect and categorize supply chain data for food services on all CUNY campuses, serve as a repository for institutional knowledge in this area, and promote research and projects based on its dynamic database.

Background Basics

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this terminology, a supply chain is the process behind the creation, use and disposal of a given product. It’s basically the “life story” of the project, which is why one form of assessing supply chains is known as life cycle assessment. A food system is the complex interactions between economics, politics, culture, health and environment that affect food supply chains.
