Database Overview

The CUNY Food Chains database contains health, environmental, and social justice information about the supply chains (farms, processors, transportation companies, wholesale distributors, food service providers, and waste management companies) for food services on every CUNY campus. The purpose of the database is to provide basic data for a wide variety of research and campaigns for food service changes within the CUNY community.

It is available to CUNY researchers upon request, but not open to the public as it may contain proprietary information supplied by companies across the supply chain.

Database Metrics

As I gather more information about the CUNY food supply chains and develop goals for the future of CUNY campus food through our Spring 2016 visioning sessions, I will evaluate the supply chains using human health, environmental health, and social justice metrics. I may use metrics from the following sources and/or I may develop my own as needed for the CUNY food supply chains specifically.
