Brown Bag Presentation
Dr. Claire Hamilton
Queen’s University Belfast
Presenting: “European and US Strategies Against Terrorism”
October 16th 2014
Community Hour 1:40-2:40pm
Room 2400 North Hall
Dr. Hamilton will be discussing legislative and policy analysis, to map the differences in counter-terrorism law and policy in the US and EU. While Europe has not followed the US in its shift from classical criminal procedure to a ‘war regime’, in many ways it is acting similarly, with incipient research arguing that, in some areas, European counter-terrorism policies go much further than those in the US (Hosein, 2005). The implications of these different strategies are discussed as well as their significance for the broader literature on penal transformation.
First year students required to attend.
All Faculty and Students are welcomed.
