I worked as the Graduate Research Assistant for a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded grant project entitled “Evidence-Based Decision Making in Local Health Departments.” The project, managed by the Office of Public Health Practice, New York State Department of Health, examined the knowledge and capacity of local health departments to use evidence-based decision making. The project took place in three phases: a comprehensive literature review; a qualitative phase (interviews and focus groups with decision-makers); and a quantitative phase (state-wide survey of local health department employees). Findings have resulted in two publications to date:
