Ch’umilkaj Curruchiche Nicho is a Maya indigenous singer, songwriter and poet from Guatemala. Founder and member of various music groups in her hometown, Comalapa, she composes on several topics, from children songs to the importance of nature and memory in Maya cosmology. Curruchiche advocates for women’s rights and textiles in Comalapa, her hometown, promoting the participation of both Maya and Mestizo women. At present (2019), she is a cultural promoter at Mayan Artists Movement Ruk’u’x.
