Bio

Yelizaveta Shapiro is a Ph.D. student in Comparative Literature at the CUNY Graduate Center. She is currently an English instructor at Hunter College, where she has previously taught Russian literature and language. Her areas of interest include English and Russian modernism, poetics, and gender and sexuality. She is currently researching the manner in which texts navigate and neutralize revulsion, anxiety, and bodies that may be considered threats to the self.
