The CV

CVYour curriculum vitae, or CV, is the first thing search committees will likely look at. It should be clear, accurate, and highlight your skills and experience in the same three areas as your letter:

  • scholarship
  • teaching
  • service

You may consider having different versions of your CV prepared, depending on the type of institution to which you’re applying (teaching, big R, etc.).

NOTE: It’s more and more common to see applicants with a digital presence. At CUNY Grad, you have some no-fee options for building your own website. Several students have used OpenCUNY to build digital websites and CVs in preparation for the job search, and have been able to demonstrate their willingness to stay digitally relevant by including a professional URL on their CV.
