Bio:

Juhyun Woo (she/her, preferred name Ju) is a Ph.D. student, lecturer, scholar and theatre maker based in New York and Seoul, South Korea. She graduated with a summa cum laude BA degree in Theatre Directing from Dankook University and completed an MA degree in Performance Studies from New York University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance at the CUNY Graduate Center. She has taught at CUNY Hunter College, leading discussion sections of the Introduction to Theatre course and has been teaching the Introduction to Theatre course at CUNY Brooklyn College. She has experience in a variety of theatre productions, working as an assistant director, assistant stage manager, sound and lighting design team and operator. Her research interests include the ritualization of medical practices on ill bodies, and the process of recovery as well as the concept of health. She is interested in how science, technology and media represent the corporeality and condition of health.
