–Post originally created by Margaret Galavan for OpenCUNY.info

In this roudup of interesting sites on OpenCUNY we draw attention to discounts you can get from being a GC student, two students who are showing what you can do with a professional site and even draw attention to a GC program that’s going above and beyond their official GC site.

The Advocate is the student-run, DSC-sponsored newspaper for the Graduate Center. It publishes a print copy about three times a semester and accepts articles from students and community members. They regularly update their site with the most hard-hitting articles from upcoming issues but also make the hard-copy issues available in PDF.

Edwin Mayorga is a CUNY alum, a  “parent, educator, scholar-activist” and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Studies and the Program in Latin American and Latino Studies at Swarthmore College (PA). His website is a dynamic example of a professional website that is more than a simple CV.

The Critical Social/Personality Phychology program has its home page on OpenCUNY. A program here at the GC, their OpenCUNY site shows what a program can do when it doesn’t have to follow the strict rules of main GC website. With incoming class photos, faculty profiles and and more, it’s a glimpse into so much of the work that happens here at the GC.

Lindsey Albracht is a student in the English Program here at the GC and her site is another example of a professional site that’s more than just a CV. With posts about current events, teaching and even her orals lists and dissertation, her site is a model for how you can use OpenCUNY to bridge your academic and personal interests.

This one isn’t really a site, but it’s a page. The home of the DSC’s Student Life and Services Committe, this page highlights discounts GC students can take advantage of. Who doesn’t like discounts?
