April 10th: “Lessons from the Picket Line: Strikes in Higher Education”

Join us on Wednesday, April 10th at 6:30pm for a panel and discussion about strikes in higher education, with particular emphasis on the precarity of adjuncting as it relates to labor organizing.

Joining us will be three speakers who have been involved with union work and strike organizing at other local institutions: Yuwei Pan (NYU), Marini Thorne (Columbia), and Mich Rogers (Rutgers). The panel will be moderated by PSC-GC Chapter Chair Zoe Hu, followed by discussion/Q&A.

The event will be hybrid: in-person at the GC in Room 5414, and on zoom. Food will be served!

Goals for 2023-24

The new AP coordinators have identified four major goals for the 2023-24 academic year:

  • Keeping the GC’s union membership informed of bargaining updates.
  • Educating GC PSC members about the language of contract negotiation, and the relevance of individual contract demands to their own conditions.
  • Providing resources to help graduate workers navigate CUNY’s Daedalean labor landscape.
  • Event planning and solidarity building to provide programming and opportunities for graduate student workers to gather and build community.
