The City wanted to deck over Sunnyside Yards and build a new city – like they did with Hudson Yards in western Manhattan. Based on the cost of HY, we estimate that that this project will take more than the $22 billion dollars the city claims it will. Also, like Hudson Yards, we expect the city will create a exclusive luxury city that will further gentrify our neighborhoods and displace many community members while putting more pressure on residents and businesses who are able to hold on.
