Flu season is here!  It generally lasts between early fall and late spring every year.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone aged six months and older receive a flu vaccine, ideally by October.  So where can you do this in NYC?  Here’s a list of options for you:

The GC’s Wellness Center Flu Vaccine Walk-In Hours.  The Wellness Center will be offering walk-in hours for receiving the flu vaccine.  Students must have a GC ID with a current semester validation sticker to receive the vaccine.

Where: Room 644

When: Thursday, October 17th, 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm

Cost: $12.00 in exact change, please.

Fort Greene Health Center and other city-run health centers throughout NYC.   The NYC Department of Health has free vaccines on a walk-in, first come, first served basis.  Go early in the day because the clinic may close early due to high patient demand.  Consider  calling 311 before going to get clinic wait times.

Where: 295 Flatbush Ave. Extension – 5th Fl., Brooklyn, NY, 11201

When: Monday – Friday, 8:30am-2pm (Closed Oct. 14, Nov. 5, Nov. 11, Nov. 28, Dec. 25)

Cost:  Free if you have insurance (you will not be charged a copay).  If you have no insurance, you may be billed to cover administrative costs using a sliding scale based on household size and income.

Costco. The wholesale club is offering the flu vaccine to the general public.  No membership required, just tell them at the entrance that you are going to the pharmacy.

Where: Any Costco with a pharmacy

When: Pharmacy hours.  Check the link above for your local store’s pharmacy hours.

Cost: $14.99

Pharmacies throughout NYC. Many area pharmacies have the flu vaccine at varying prices.  The Walgreens on 33rd and 5th, for example, has the flu vaccine available for GC students at the price of $31.99.  Any deals you hear of, please leave a comment to let us know!
