I am very excited to announce that the online journal of the Urban Education department of the CUNY Graduate Center, Theory, Research & Action in Urban Education, finally launched this week! It has been a long but rewarding process — one that started about a year and a half ago when my advisor, Jean Anyon, and several other students got together to start talking about the possibility of creating a peer-reviewed, online journal — and the learning process has been nearly vertical. I am proud to be a part of creating a space to talk about some of the work we are doing in our department at such a time when public education is in turmoil and finding a solution to providing a decent, fair, accessible education to all students is of the utmost importance. Please take a look when you have a moment; issue 2 will be released during the spring semester. If you have specific feedback, we would love to hear it — you may contact the editorial board at urbanedTRAUE [at] gmail [dot] com.
