Colette Daiute

Colette Daiute is Professor at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, in the Ph.D. Program in Psychology (Critical Social Personality and Developmental), Masters in Liberal Studies (MALS), and the Committee on Globalization and Social Change.

Dr. Daiute joined the GC faculty after teaching and doing research at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Daiute’s research focuses on individual and societal development in radically changing and challenging environments. She has created and implemented innovative research methods in educational and community interventions, highlighting child, youth, and adult uses of language and technologies as means of empowerment, development, and social change. Colette Daiute’s recent book publications include Narrative Inquiry, A Dynamic Approach (Sage Publications, 2014), Human Development and Political Violence (Cambridge University Press, 2010), and Minority Teachers – Roma in Serbia – Narrate Education Reform (2017, with T. Kovacs-Cerovic, R. Todorova, T. Jokic, A. Ataman). Colette also recently edited and authored “Collective strategies for human development in war and its long shadow”, a special issue of the journal Human Development. Dr. Daiute enjoys teaching, including courses on “Narrative Inquiry”; “The Politics and Psychology of Belonging in the United States”, and “Child/Youth Studies: Approaches and Methods”, and “Human Development and Globalization”.
