Welcome to SASS – Fall 2017 updates

New name, same org: At the general meeting/hang-out last semester, we voted to change the name of our chartered org to reflect a more open and diverse South Asian identity. Udaan/ISRA is now officially South Asian Students & Scholars (SASS). Thanks to those who contributed to coming up with a more inclusive name.

New constitution: Please check out the new and simplified constitution in the ‘About SASS’ page.

Dissent in Dangerous Times: As you know, we’ve been pretty active this semester with a series of lecture-conversations in conjunction with the POLIS Project. So far we’ve had two successful events with Maaza Mengiste and Steven Thrasher. You can find the videos for these events on our website. The next event will feature Kalyan Nadiminti who will talk about how practices of surveillance after 9/11 have impacted American literature. Stay tuned for another talk on Nov 16, and more programming in the Spring semester.

Keep us alive and funded, please: Take a couple minutes to sign our roster here: http://cunydsc.org/works/organizations/udaan-isra. We need your signatures so that we can access the semesterly allocation from the DSC, and get reimbursed.
