Isabel Hofmeyr is Global Distinguished Professor at New York University and Professor of African Literature at University of the Witwatersrand. Her work, including Gandhi’s Printing Press: Experiments in Slow Reading (2013) and The Portable Bunyan: A Transnational History of The Pilgrim’s Progress (2003), explores textual circulation in the Global South with a focus on the Indian Ocean.
