Welcome! Bienvenidos!

Shana

I am currently an international educator in Cali, Colombia. August 2012, starts my second year working at Colegio Bolivar as the Geometry and Geometry Honors, 10th grade teacher. It is an American school with bilingual (English/Spanish) students and I teach mathematics in English.

I recently (May 2012), completed my doctorate in Urban Education at The Graduate Center, City University of New York.  My dissertation is titled: “Keeping count of all and losing count of a few: The construction of the high school dropout rate”.

I have held positions as a secondary mathematics classroom teacher, professional developer, and educator of elementary and secondary school mathematics teachers.  My career goal is to improve the link between students and educational resources found among school, parents, and the community in the pursuit of graduating from high school.  All students deserve adult mentors that assist in their quest to continue their educational pipeline.
