Overwhelmed by the end of semester? Want to reclaim spaces in the GC for self-care? We’ve got your back (for massages, at least)

The DSC is once again sponsoring Finals Relief Salons this spring to help you rest, relax, and refresh while studying, writing, grading, and dealing with general end-of-semester stresses. This semester, the salons will be located in two places: the library for chair massages and napping/meditation stations, and Room 5409 for napping/meditation stations with aromatherapy, relaxing music, and coffee/tea.

Library finals relief salons:
The salons will include FREE 10 minute chair massages as well as napping/meditation stations. Please come early in the day to sign up for a slot, as slots fill up fast. You can find us by the elevators inside the library (first floor).

Room 5409 finals relief salons:
In addition to usual Finals Relief Salons in the library we will be offering some of the same freebies upstairs along with relaxing music, coffee, tea, aromatherapy oils and space to stretch/nap/meditate. (no chair massages in room 5409; just in the library).

In both the library and in Room 5414, we will have Safer Sex supplies, ear plugs, healthy, quick recipes from the nutrition workshop we did in March,  as well as information on chair yoga and aromatherapy.

It’s been a long semester, folks. Come to the Spring Finals Relief Stations this TUESDAY, May 19 and WEDNESDAY, May 20, 11am-3pm, on the first floor of the library (beyond the elevators) to get some much needed end-of-semester relief: there will be free ten minute chair massages, nap stations, and free earplugs, as well as some Safer Sex materials.

While you’re at it, on Tuesday, May 19th, participate in free yoga organized by the Urban Education Students’ Association: 12pm-1pm in Rm 5414.  Mats, blocks, and straps provided!

And remember self-care in other ways and times, too: you do you!

Zen Buddhist Guided Meditation Sessions

Mindfulness and Strategies for Stress Relief!

Tend to get frazzled around finals? Based on the success of last semester’s initiative, The Doctoral Students’ Council now sponsors monthly Chan/ Zen Buddhist Meditation, a straightforward approach to understanding your mind, cultivating clarity and seeing through to the bottom of stress and anxiety.

The FINAL Meditation of the semester is:-
Wednesday, May 6th, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Rm, 5414

No registration required. Please arrive five minutes in advance. This event is free.
