The EC Rep who wins the most votes will also serve as the:
SSA Chair for Administrative Responsibilities And Bylaws
The duties of the Chair for Administrative Responsibilities And Bylaws shall include but not be limited to:
• Communicating student concerns to the Executive Officer of the Sociology Doctoral Program and working to relieve those concerns;
• Scheduling and chairing SSA Board meetings during the academic year;
• Organizing and hosting SSA social and networking events; and
• Serving as a primary liaison to the SSA in all communications with outside persons, organizations, or agencies, including but not limited to the Graduate Center community.

SSA Chair for Faculty Relations
The duties of the Chair for Faculty Relations shall include but not be limited to:
• Organizing and chairing the SSA all-student meeting each semester;
• Serving as a secondary liaison to the SSA in communications with the Executive Officer, and outside persons, organizations, or agencies, including but not limited to the CUNY community;
• Serving as a primary liaison to the SSA for members of program standing committees and the Graduate Council;
• Serving as secondary SSA representative alongside any other Board Member requiring assistance;

The C&E Rep who wins the most votes will also serve as the:
SSA Chair for Teaching and Professional Development
The duties of the Chair for Teaching and Student Development shall include but not be limited to:
• Acting as primary liaison to the SSA for teaching and professional organizations, including but not limited to the Adjunct Project;
• Organizing and managing SSA events at professional conferences;
• Aiding students in applying for professional development grants;
• Providing student resources on professional development and teaching;
• Acting as co-representative of the SSA, along with the President, in matters involving adjunct-related issues;
• Obtaining requests for professional development workshops and guest speakers and communicate them to the Executive Officer of the Sociology Program; and
• Hearing and acting upon student concerns related to adjunct-related issues.

The Senior A&A rep will serve as the SSA Chair for Elections
The duties of the Chair for Elections shall include but not be limited to:
• Maintaining information on attendance at all Student and Faculty meetings
• Managing and supervising elections of SSA Board Members;
• Ensuring compliance with GC and Graduate Council bylaws on the election of student representatives to standing program committees; and
• Liaising with the Elections program committee.

SSA Chair for Communications (1 rep)

The duties of the Chair for Communications shall include but not be limited to:
• Maintaining, or supervising, website.
• Managing student listserv users
• Collecting reports from student sub committees (colloquium, journal and conference) and ad hoc committees
• Keeping records of and distributing minutes and notes from SSA Board meetings and the SSA all-student meetings;
• Managing and updating the SSA website; and
• Acting as the primary disseminator of information to students.

SSA Chair for Fundraising and Alumni (1 rep)

(Position Vacant)

The duties of the Chair for Fundraising and Alumni shall include but not be limited to:
• Organize earned money attempts and fundraising
• Communicate with co-chair for business about DSC funds
• Soliciting donations and writing grants for the SSA;
• Coordinating with the Sociology Doctoral Student Council Program Representatives regarding the use and reimbursement of Doctoral Student Council Program allocations;
• Keeping and maintaining any and all financial records of the SSA;
• Preparing preliminary annual budgets for the SSA;
• Managing all SSA monies

Colloquium Committee (2 representatives)

The Colloquium Committee meets with members of the faculty to organize the monthly colloquium.

Grad Council Rep: (2 reps—service for 2 years)

Graduate Council is the academic governing body of The Graduate School and University Center, and the Bylaws of Graduate Council set forth its rules of governance. Members include representatives of the faculty, doctoral students, and administration. The President of The Graduate Center is the Chair of Graduate Council. The Executive Committee of Graduate Council formulates the agenda and brings actions to Graduate Council, which meets four times each year. Graduate Council is concerned with such matters as curriculum, degree requirements, standards of admission, academic performance, and program governance. Much of the work of Graduate Council is done through its standing committees.
