CryptoParty 3.0 at The CUNY Graduate Center

March 7, 2013 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

| Free

What is CryptoParty? CryptoParty is a grassroots global movement that aims to introduce the general public to the basics of practical cryptography (i.e. the art of scrambling information about yourself you’d rather keep personal, such as emails, computer files, and IP addresses).

OpenCUNY will be hosting CryptoParty 3.0, New York City’s 3rd CryptoParty, on March 7th from 6:30PM-10:00PM in Room 5409 at the CUNY Graduate Center.

CryptoParty 3.0 is free to attend and open to the public. The focus of this event is on secured communication in activism, research and journalism but any member of the GC or broader NYC community with a computer and the desire to learn about cryptography and how to encrypt their own digital communications should attend.

More info on CryptoPartyNYC here: https://cryptoparty.org/wiki/New_York_City

Walk-ins welcome, but we encourage registering if you plan to attend: http://cryptoparty3.eventbrite.com/

NOTE: Participants will need to show ID to gain entry to the Graduate Center on 365 Fifth Avenue. Take the elevators to the 5th floor and follow the signs directing you to “CryptoParty 3.0.”
The Wifi Network is called “GCguest.” A screen will come up that will prompt you to enter an email address. You may enter whatever text you like in the form of an email address and then click “I accept.”
