CFPs at the DTSA Website
The DTSA Website is meant to provide some sort of stable platform for information relevant to the DTSA community. From now on, we will try to keep all CFPs sent to the website posted here: http://opencuny.org/dtsa/professionalization/conferences-cfps/
Lisa Reinke (DTSA Treasurer) will try to keep the site updated, but you can post CFPs there as well. You can post CFPs as comments at the end of the page (note that you will be asked to provide a name and email to avoid spam comments by unfriendly visitors). Good news for avid conference presenters!

- Ongoing – Working Groups at the Theatre PhD program
There has been some interest in creating Working Groups in at least two different areas (please excuse me because these are not official titles, only my understanding of them): Digital/Media/Second Life, and perhaps Slavic/Russain /Eastern Europe.
We still need to see to what extent these Working Groups are going to be formed, but it is probably important that you know there are some fellow students in the program willing to start some “think tanks” with particular subjects in mind. The DTSA will try to help with any practical need (room reservation, coordination, etc.) that Working Groups may have. If you are thinking of joining or starting a Working Group, you can contact me at boris@lacalba.com

The Graduate Center has gone a long way since last year, when students working at CUNY on scholarships started getting some sort of Health Insurance coverage. However, there are a number of different situations that qualify for Health Insurance eligibility.
A new and important issue has struck hard many students, who for some administrative error see their paychecks delayed.
Eero Laine, the DSC Program representative keeps you updated on both issues at the DTSA website: http://opencuny.org/dtsa/gc-at-large/dsc-doctoral-students-council

Fourth Computer
I am glad to announce that we will soon have a fourth computer in the Green Room, the student lounge of the Theatre PhD program.
DTSA has been trying to secure a fourth computer since late Spring 2009. Thanks to the efforts of our Assistant Program Officer, Lynette Gybson, and to the kindness and understanding of director of Information Technology User Services, Elaine Montilla, this will soon be a reality.
We are aware it will be a bit tight (one of the four computers will have to stay in the same cubicle where the printer is), but we hope that this addition will improve our academic life. We hope to see this happening next week.

As this year’s editor of The Green Room, our DTSA newsletter, I’d like to get out a short “end of the summer” issue. What I would like to know from you—BRIEFLY—is what you’ve been up to for the past 3-4 months. I hope that this will help us all to catch up with anyone that we didn’t get to see or speak with at the department party at the beginning of the semester. Please get me the information by Monday, September 14th.

The Green Room, a new era
Joe Heissan, First Vice-President of the DTSA and editor of The Green Room, the DTSA newsletter, is launching a new era for this student publication.
The new version of The Green Room will probably be more oriented towards student, alumni and faculty news, events and activities (from the program and from outside of it), opinion pieces, and some elements of general information. It is still a change on the making and any input is appreciated.
We feel that during the last years The Green Room became a bit burdensome and included some information that we can now shift to the Student bios section of the DTSA website.
The new era of The Green Room wants to provide a more dynamic publication, with more options for short contributions written by students and other people related to the program. Can’t wait to get the first issue!

- All Week! – DTSA Website launch and Printing at the Theatre Department Green Room
Check the DTSA Calendar at http://opencuny.org/calendar or at the end of every page on the DTSA website. It is a Google Calendar, so if you are a Google Calendar user you can add all the events to your own personal calendar with just a click.
Please note that the paper supply for the printer in the Green Room does not refill automatically. Please call IT at 7300 if you start the last rim of paper. Note that you cannot print from the Mac computer unless you are logged in (it does not print if you log in as a guest). Also, if you need to print a large number of pages it is better to use the printing facilities at the library. They can now handle printing quite well.
