September 7, 2011 in Maintenance, Service Notice
Maggie and I are happy to report that we have successfully migrated OpenCUNY to our new server. Following the migration this past Friday, we were finally able to upgrade WordPress to its latest version and update all plugins and themes to their newest versions. A few older themes and plugins had no updates available and, as a result, may no longer work with the newest version of WordPress. Please contact Maggie or I if you find a theme/plugin no longer working. In almost every case we should be able to recommend a newer alternative:
We’ll be in touch shortly with information on our other 2011-12 OpenCUNY Initiatives. In the meantime, you should already be experiencing faster load time, more plugins and themes to choose from, and increased upload limits.
October 7, 2010 in Maintenance, WPMU Upgrade
Two pieces of good news to report:
- The upgrade to WordPress 3.0.1 is now complete (background on this topic). You can read about some of the changes and new features found in the upgrade, here.
- The uploading issues a number of you have been experiencing should now be resolved (background on this topic).
September 24, 2010 in Maintenance, Service Notice
Next Friday, October 1st, OpenCUNY.org will be down for maintenance as I upgrade the system (from WordPress MU 2.9.11 to WordPress MU 3.0.1).
A full backup of everyone’s site will be generated – you do not need to generate your own backup. However, please follow these directions if you would like to generate a personal backup of your OpenCUNY site(s): http://codex.wordpress.org/Tools_Export_SubPanel
Please feel free to contact me directly at dsc (at) gregorydonovan (dot) org with any concerns.
